We spent a day in Banff and remembered all the good times we had there when we actually lived in Alberta. We then headed to Calgary - which was a nice short ride - and stopped at Canada's Olympic Park in Calgary's NW. We decided to do the Olympic bobsled run which costs a small fortune but it is something we said we would do for a long time. Most of the sleds were leaving the top of the run and doing the run in about 1:20. When I saw the mom and her son - who was about 6'4" and 225 pounds and Walter and then the driver of the sled - blonde guy about 23 who was as least 6' and over 200 pounds, I knew we would fly down the track. And we did!!! In 58 seconds. The driver said he was probably going way too fast that we made it down that fast but it was freaking AWESOME!!! Man when you take those corners high up and your head is banging against the side rails it is so amazing. I think I could get addicted to something like that. Then I took a shot of Walter posing by a Petro Canada statue. Those of you who know the story know how pissed off Walter was that he did not get picked to run the torch in our part of the country at the Vancouver Olympics. Every time the RBC Run was advertised on TV, the kids and I would try and change the channel before he would see it because how sore he was about it. Then we see a statue in Calgary at the Park dedicated to the volunteers who ran the torch in 1988 in Calgary so he decided to give it the finger. We had a good laugh at that!! Then off to the family in Calgary.
